The 1920s Punkt Roller claimed that rolling the device over parts of the anatomy would “boost circulation” and “dissolve fatty deposits.” Sadly, modern research has shown that this kind of slimming aid will not help you to lose any inches. However, the invention of the roller almost a century ago illustrates that our obsession with the shape of our bodies is nothing new.[1]
At a cost of 25 shillings, the Punkt Roller was not a cheap option, but there were obviously people willing to part with their money and give it a go.
